Radio Session for Green and Inclusive Energy in Malawi

Once again, Kingsley Mtila opened the doors into his studios at the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) in Blantyre. He has always been a partner we can count on through his radio magazine program, What’s On File, which airs every Thursday from 8pm.

The Green and Inclusive Energy (GIE) project Malawi partnership, through Renew’N’Able Malawi, would therefore like to extend their appreciation to Kingsley and MBC for their continuous gesture. Malawi is currently going through an energy crisis with widespread blackouts affecting much of the country. Working with nation-wide media house like MBC is the right way to disseminate information to majority of the population.

After months of tireless ground work, it was a happy moment to inform Malawians through the program that the exercise is now in progress. We have street pole billboards in all four cities in Malawi; Blantyre, Zomba, Lilongwe and Mzuzu. Besides that we also have roadside billboards in some districts in the Northern and Central region.

In the Northern region, the billboards have so far been planted in Karonga, Rumphi, North and South Mzimba and Nkhata Bay. For Central region, they are in Kasungu, Dedza, Mchinji, Nkhotakota, Dowa, Dwangwa and Salima. We are now in the Southern region. Nsanje, Chikwawa, Zomba, Thyolo and Mulanje will be our target in the region. However, we aim to cover all districts within the country (excluding Likoma) because challenges emanating from lack of regular and sustainable energy have affected the whole country.
